I don't have the tools to replicate this extreme test, but my reel spent the night before the disassembly in the bottom of my fish tank, and I found no traces of water inside the reel

Material quality is immediately apparent where designer backpacks use ballistic nylon that's water-resistant, tear-proof, and maintains appearance through years of rough handling including being thrown on subway floors, shoved under airplane seats, and generally abused during daily commuting, or Italian leather that develops beautiful patina over decades of carrying, resists water and staining, and maintains structural integrity, while cheap backpacks use thin nylon that tears from normal use, shows wear immediately, absorbs water soaking contents during rain, fades badly from sun exposure, and generally looks worn out within months
It appears that on that pack Trailwise definitely intended the shoulder straps to go down farther behind the shoulders, then have them reliant on the load adjustment straps to hold them in place
